I fixed the same problem by bypassing the internal heater matrix. Car doesn't over heat anymore. Sounds bizarre but it works. Its apparently a common thing with 1.6 tdi CAYC engines. Due to the way water flows through the cooling system. It has to also flow through the heating matrix to cool the engine down.
The engine management light first begins to flash but there is no real noticeable symptoms. The light then comes on permanently and the engine runs on no 1 and no 3 only. 2009 vw polo 1.4 engine cranks but wont start. I recently blew my engine and had it engineered, everything is sorted, the engine turns 100% but it wont start. We checked the fule pump and it seems to be working fine and the spark is fine. I did not replace the cranck sensor and I think that might be the problem though my mechanic says it's not.
